Yigal's belief that the Romans could be stopped foreshadows his plan for interfering with the Roman invasion. This foreshadows the Jews' decision to stop the Romans by laying on the road to block their path. They show themselved prepared to die in order to keep statues out of the synagogue. Their plan is successful.
