The theme for the Son of Neptune is friendship. Many times through out the book friendship is tested and strengthend and fortified. The main weakness for Percy is his friends and the inability to cause them harm in any way period. Each of the main character are shaped and better defied by the friendship they have, it also helps them grow as people.
