The motif for the Story The Son of Neptune is the motif of sacrifice. This story indulges in a good helping of sacrifices by many of the characters. Many of the characters make hard sacrifies for eachother. Frank has to make a sacrifice like his mother, choosing to die for the safety of his friends. This is a sacrifice that is hard to make.
