Hans Holbein was the famous artist, who painted the portrait of Anne of Cleves that was sent to Henry before their marriage. Needless to say, the beautiful, graceful, young woman he portrayed on canvas was a far cry from Anne herself. To Henry, the portrait was a source of manipulation..... to Holbein.... it was a depiction of the whole woman.... a beautiful soul.
