Can you please explain the theme of violence in the novel The Sisters Brothers by Patrick de Witt?

The theme of violence is secondary to the novel's main theme of good versus evil. The evil, which is respresented by the contract killers Eli and Charlie Sisters, is cold, calculated, and detached, as the brothers ruthlessly kill those they are ordered to kill, as well as those who get in their way.
