This novel is told from the third person point of view of an omniscient narrator. The point of view shifts between several different characters throughout the novel. The majority of the story is told from the points of view of the Torrence family, including Wendy, Jack, and Danny. It is not until Part Five of the novel that a fourth character, Hallorann, joins the characters that tell the story from his point of view.
