Margaret Sanger was a feminist activist, birth control advocate, and aunt to Olive Byrne. Sanger, with her sister Ethel, opened the first birth control clinic in Brooklyn in 1916. She, along with her sister, were arrested and she served 30 days in prison. She established organizations that evolved into the Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Her book, "Women and the New Race," was the philosophical foundation for Marston's Wonder Woman.
