What are the motifs in The Scarlet Ibis by James Hurst?

Survival of the fittest is a motif in the story. Doodle is not strong but Brother pushes him past his limits. Like the Scarlet Ibis, Doodle dies because he is simply not strong enough to hold out in a world that Brother thinks he should be strong in.
