The South Coast Path of England is the most important setting that this memoir takes place in. The path goes along the coastline from Minehood in Somerset, through north Devon, Cornwall and south Devon, to Poole in Dorset, via Land’s End. In total, it is a 630-mile walk and is equivalent to climbing Mount Everest four times. While it is technically called a coast walk, it is, in reality, more like a cliff walk, as the terrain is strikingly difficult, steep, and often jarringly beautiful, with waves crashing beneath. On this path, Ray and Moth both find a new sense of purpose, healing, and renewal.
