This story is told by a third person omniscient narrator. The focus is on Mark, Todd and Zola the three main characters of the story but the thoughts and emotions of other characters are shared with the reader as well. This point of view works well for this novel because it allows the author to tell the stories of Todd, Zola and Mark seamlessly with easy transitions between the characters. Had the author attempted to tell it from a first-person point of view the entire story could not have been told from the viewpoint of only one character, some points would have been left out. Had the author attempted to tell the story from multiple first-person points of view it would have been confusing and the reader would have struggled to keep up with the identity of the narrator.
