Posf -apocalyptic stories are popular now. How is The Road different from what you have read?

The Road is different because the Earth is basically finished. Cormac McCarthy gives the reader very little hope if any that mankind will survive. The Earth is on its last gasps. There is no dystopian new world or order. What is left is anarchy and savages. The boy is a Christ-figure with nobody to save.
