The title is definitely pertinent to the book. The term 'return' has many connotations. Of course, the literal return is Egdon Heath who comes back from Paris. Then, there's Clym, who also returns. In the end, both'natives' return, but it is true that you can't truly go home again. And more importantly...what makes a 'native' a 'native'?
