The novel is written in a simple, basic English common to bestselling novels of its era. The language of this novel is simple enough for the youngest readers to understand, yet not so simple that more mature readers feel spoken down to. The novel does not contain any foreign words or phrases with the exception of an unidentified language Tak speaks in the final climatic moments of his reign of terror.
