Who is Hamor from The Red Tent and what is their importance?

Hamor is the king of Shechem. He is also Shalem's father. Hamor agrees to Jacob's bride price, and he has all the men in Shechem circumcised. He is later murdered during Simon and Levi massacre of the city.
