How does the author use foreshadowing in The Rainbow?

The imagery Lawrence provides of the horse and how it moves with Will transitions to the sensory markers of resistance iforeshadowing the horse and how Will physically acts to spur the horse on. We see how water floods the stable with the imagery of the water's height on the horse's legs, which we have already been drawn to observe.
