Rainer Marie Rilke is a poet. Rilke writes of city-dwellings, where storms and hurricanes seem more aggressive and hostile than in the countryside. He is more frightened by hurricanes in the city at night than in the countryside. Ironically, Rilke writes of his preference to be outside watching the raging storm lash at the trees, as long as he is sheltered inside the house.
