The novel concludes with Milo's return home. He's a bit concerned that someone might have been worried about his absence. When Milo gets home, it is six o'clock, and strangely.... the very day he left. Exhausted, he falls asleep, and when he wakes up in the morning, he busies himself planning his next trip to the Lands Beyond. When he gets home, however, the tollbooth has disappeared, and Milo finds a letter, addressed to MILO, WHO NOW KNOWS THE WAY, telling him that other boys and girls are in need of the Phantom Tollbooth, and that is Milo really wants to return..... he will find the way. Milo handles this by immersing himself in his own community.... and all the things it has to teach him.
