significance of Divorce papers

Divorce papers are granted to Thane for a divorce from Lira following Thane’s discovery that Lira is not only an Excisioner, but an adulterer as well. Ceony watches the heartbroken Thane sign divorce papers in one of the memories of his heart. Ceony later uses this information against Lira to throw her off balance.
