Christopher Harte from The Pact is the main character in the book, The Pact. Chistopher lives next door to a girl named Emily. They are about the same age and grow up together. The novel shows them growing up together, and their mothers are best friends. When they are 13 they begin to have feelings for one another and it is assumed that they will eventually, one day, be married. Christopher is shocked out of this dream when he realizes that Emily doesn't want to live. She makes him agree to let her die...and he makes 'the pact' with her. He ends up going to jail because it seems as if he is the one that killed her.
