Why is the text called The outsiders?

The main conflict is between the Socs and the Greasers and it generally revolves around the fact that the Greasers feel as if they are outside of the system. On a micro-level, the main character as well as some of the major secondary characters feel alienated, outside, of society even with their supposed friends.
