What does Coach do each night before a game in the novel, The One & Only?

The coach has a few superstitions and habits he follows related to winning football games. One night a cricket was keeping him awake in his hotel room so he went outside and caught it. The next day the Coach's team won, and he now tries to catch a cricket on the night before a game.
