Why did Mr. Benedict wear a green suit in the novel, The Mysterious Benedict Society?

Mr. Benedict suffered from narcolepsy brought on by strong emotions. In his case the strong emotion was laughter. He said he wore the green suit because it calmed him, bringing on fewer of the episodes.
