The al-Amal Cooperative is a farming cooperative located in Yemen’s Haymah Valley. There, Mokhtar met Malik, a dedicated farmer who grew the highest quality coffee beans in Yemen. Mokhtar helped to improve the cooperative’s farming and harvesting methods. Because of this, and because Mokhtar bought the beans directly from the farm, the cooperative became more prosperous. As Mokhtar’s business expanded, he made this beneficial business arrangement with a larger number of farmers and farm cooperatives.
