The Mirror Thief symbolizes the power of books in general, as Stanley’s obsession with the poem is the driving force behind the narrative. Naturally, it calls attention to the medium of the novel itself, as the reader analyzes the story along with the central characters. The title of the book applies not only to Crivano, but to Stanley and Curtis as well.
