What is Tilo's Shaved Head

Tilo’s shaved head, given to her by ACP Pinky, represents the new identity forged in the experience of torture. As she never grows her hair out again, the scars of that experience are in some sense permanent. The removal of her long hair, too, represents the dehumanization of torture, and marks a new period of more ambiguous gender, like that of the hijras.
