Writing symbolizes the process of coming to terms with one’s own life. Singh states that his initial motivation for writing his memoirs was to gain possible entry into other spheres of influence in the wake of his political career’s collapse. However, he notes that he became highly emotionally involved in the writing of his memoirs, and he began to see the writing process as one of reflecting upon and making sense of his life.
