How did Wellington treat his men as noted in the book, The Mask of Command?

Wellington gave a great deal of time and energy to his troops, often checking to make sure they were okay. His devotion to his men was such that he gave his own bed to a dying officer, and when one of the men died, Wellington wept openly with grief. This shows that he cared a great deal for his men.
