The title of the sixth chapter of the novel is “A Plague of Madness,” and the author
explains that this is what people call the lack of dreams. In this situation, the lack of
dreams has literally driven people insane, and many have committed suicide as a result. The reader has to decide the role of dreams in a person's life, and whether this is a reasonable situation.
