How does the way French views Minerva's benefits to the group as a whole illustrate his immaturity?

French says those who are hunting with Miig are the fortunate ones, and that the others are stuck with “Minerva to babysit” (Location 453). Those left at the camp are called “Homesteaders,” and French is clearly disdainful about the role of that group.
