Several times throughout the book, Kobe references how important video recordings and his analysis of them were to shaping his game. He identifies them as a fundamental source of information about his own game play and that of his team, but more importantly those of his opponents. By studying video recordings of players and of games, he says, he was able to analyze what was there and what was missing. In terms of opponents, he used recordings to find ways to overcome the former and take advantage of the latter. In terms of himself, he used recordings to identify weaknesses and look for success in building on his strengths.
