When does Giovanna realize that there was some type of relationship between her father and Vittoria in the novel, The Lying Life of Adults?

After Giovanna overhears her parents saying she looks like Vittoria, she becomes desperate to find an image of her aunt. In the photographs she discovers her father has blackened Vittoria's figure out of every image. This discovery makes Giovanna realize something has happened between her father and aunt.
