The hobbits (Lord of the Rings) stay with Farmer Maggot and he tells them that the day before a black rider had come to the door step and offered them a lot of gold in exchange for information about someone named Baggins. He told him he didn't know anything and the Rider went away. Later, Maggot takes the hobbits to the Ferry where they meet up with Merry, who's been waiting for them there.
