What are Postcards

The postcards represent hope. Billy and Sally found a stack of postcards that Emmett and Billy’s mother sent them during the days after she abandoned them. Billy has arranged the cards by date and location and believes his mother is living in San Francisco. He thinks that he and Emmett can find her at the Fourth of July fireworks in that city.
