The solid gold pocket watch is a symbol of betrayal. Harry took this pocket watch from Marceline’s body after he died by suicide. When some of the other tenants of the Sunshine Hotel began asking about the watch, Harry made a show of asking Duchess, who had found the body, if he had seen the watch. Harry used the opportunity to drop the watch into Duchess’ pocket so that when the police searched Duchess, they found the watch in his possession. Duchess was sent to the juvenile reform facility where he met Emmett for grand larceny, a crime he did not commit.
