Who is Christina “Chrissie” Skinner?

Christina “Chrissie” Skinner is another central character in the novel. She is the daughter of Dr. Edward and Mabel Skinner. She falls in love with Billy Skinner and gets pregnant after they have sex one time. When Billy runs away from her when she first tells him she is pregnant and then she never hears from him again she assumes that he deserted her. It is not until her son William and Tina deliver to Chrissie the letter Billy wrote to her and the explanation that Dr. Skinner kept them apart that Chrissie realizes that Billy really did love her.
