A great symbol is of the rich white lady in the fur coat that the children see in downtown Manhattan on a really hot day. This represents the excess of materialism that white society has to bizarre proportions. It is sweltering hot and the lady prefers to flaunt her wealth validate herself with a fur coat that would be so obviously uncomfortable on her.
