Who is Carolina and Caterina from The Leopard and what is their importance?

Carolina and Caterina were the Prince's youngest daughters. Though they are only minor characters in the novel, we learn that both girls developed a crush on one of Tancredi's friends. As adults, they are described as conservative, pious, and eccentric old women.
