Magua is a prime example of the "savage Indian". He is ruthless, tough, and relentless against his enemies. He is the archetype of the often glamorized "savage" in Hollywood. Even though Magua is the primary antagonist, readers will find a sense of honour underneath Magua's savageness that they can relate to.
