Who is Admiral Ackbar from The Last Command and what is their importance?

Admiral Ackbar is a bug-eyed Mon Calamari, Ackbar is Supreme Commander of the Rebel Alliance Fleet during the decisive Battle of Endor almost six years before the beginning of this novel. He is famous for saying "It's a Trap" during battle. After that, he is accused of treason and embezzlement by Councilor Borsk Fey'lya before the battle of Sluis Van. By the time The Last Command opens, Ackbar is vindicated and restored to command but is worn out.
