The snow globe that the narrator finds among Link’s things in "Triumph Over the Grave" symbolizes the knowledge and memories that are lost when a person passes away. The snow globe’s glass has become cloudy over the years to the point that it is completely opaque and impossible to see through. While the narrator can still feel the weight of the water inside of it, he cannot see the wintry scene that was once viewed. He goes on to posit that everyone who had once known what the inside of the snow globe looked like, including Link, is now dead. Thus, along with the death’s of these people, so dies the memory of what the snow globe looks like on the inside. The knowledge is simply lost forever.
