What does the tiger represent symbolically in the story, The Lady, or the Tiger??

The tiger in the story represents supposed guilt and most certainly death. The tiger symbolizes the punishment of the man for the guilt of his crime. The tiger also represents the wild and fierce passion seen in the king.
