Who is Monty in the novel, The Killing Game?

Monty is a beautiful Lab. He loves children and he is an excellent search and rescue dog. Throughout the story, Monty communicates with Sarah. He ends up searching for Debby's body. He finds it. Finding a dead body always depresses him. He has to have some time to recover. Jane tries to help him.
