What is the author's style in The Keepers of the House by Shirley Ann Grau?

The Keepers of the House is fairly basic in its structure and meaning. The vocabulary used is not particularly difficult. Its only complication lies within the naming of its characters. One must be careful to keep track of the generations as they pass and keep the characters orderly within the context of the book.
