Yasir Arafat is a leader of the Palestinian people and of the PLO and Fatah. He feels that the State of Israel is unacceptable because it is artificially created In the middle of the Arab world. Israel does not have the common language, background and culture that the rest of the world has. Arafat supports the total liberation of Palestine with the establishment of an independent and democratic state. His movement promotes the equality of women. He views the establishment of Israel as the result of a colonialism that displaces Palestinians and sees his Palestine Liberation Organization as embodying the struggle of the Palestinians.
