The Irrational Knot is a story about a marraige etween Marian Lind and Edward Connolly. This is a matrimony that quickly deteriorates due to Marian's expectations and inability to embrace her husband's interests. Edward is not from the upper class like Marian and doesn't fit in, and often is at a loss as to how to fit in. He does not like the constraints and expectations as he believes that they are limiting. Their holy knot of matrimony becomes an unholy knot of unhappiness.
