Who is Willie Johnson from The Illustrated Man and what is their importance?

Willie is Hattie's husband and the victim of racism. When he hears that a white man is preparing to land, Willie stirs a great mob against him. He plans for the mob to reenact all the wrongs done to them through the visitor. Unlike his wife, Willie doesn't see the weakness in his actions..... the propagation of an endless cycle of violence rendered from one generation to the next. His wife opens his eyes when she tells him of the destruction of the earth..... which affords them the chance for a clean slate. Wille and Hattie appear in the story, The Other Foot.
