Wurche is a complex character and is fiercely independent. She is attracted to both men and women, and when she is married against her will to a Dagbon chief’s nephew in an attempt by her father to secure an army to fight for his claim as the heir to the head chiefdom, she begins an affair with a slave raider named Moro.
