Christian Parallels : Many readers and critics through the fifty years since the first Chronicle of Narnia book was published have seen Christian themes in each of the novels. In The Horse and his Boy, there are many parallels between events within their plots and events described in the Bible or in Christian faith based prayers. Many of these parallels involve the character of Aslan, the kindly lion who is King and Lord over all of Narnia and its bordering countries. At times in these novels Aslan appears to embody the spirit of Jesus, while at others he appears to resemble God himself.
