How does the author use foreshadowing in The Honourable Schoolboy?

In Chapter 18, Jerry arrives in Hong Kong to find Luke dead. The foreshadowing of several chapters before has come true, leaving the reader and Jerry both wondering who killed Luke and if they thought they were killing Jerry.
