Herod paid a terrible price after ordering Bethlehem to be destroyed, the murder of his wife and children, among other things. Herod grew sick and died. Eusebius cites Josephus's recounting of Herod's sufferings. Around the time he died, he ordered the execution of many of his sons. Everyone who sought to have Christ killed eventually died.
